First Race!

I entered the kayak in its (and my) first race.

Awaiting the start of the race. It was a multi-class event with a 3 and 7 mile race.

Starting to gather in the water. I entered the 3 mile race – just to test the waters this first time out.

It was a mixed group of rec and touring kayaks - even a stand-up paddler.

There were staggered starting times for the different classes so the finish line was a litlle chaotic. My wife, who took these pics, didn't notice when I crossed the line IN FIRST PLACE for the 3-mile adult kayak class.

...even made the front page of the local paper.
